Aeration is simple. We run a machine over your lawn that pulls out thousands of finger-sized plugs of soil and leaves the holes open for air, water and roots.
Peace Region soil is heavy clay. Add a winter of frost, a summer of mowing, and kids and dogs crossing the same patch, and the top few inches pack down like a driveway. Roots quit going down. Water runs sideways.
The plugs stay on the lawn and melt back in on their own. You never rake them. Grass fills the holes and comes back thicker.

We run a core aerator over the whole lawn — front, back, side yards, the strip along the driveway. It pulls plugs and drops them on the surface. Every pass overlaps the last one, so nothing gets striped and nothing gets skipped. You don't have to be home for any of it.

Most Fort St. John yards are done in one visit. The plugs melt back in about two weeks and the grass thickens up through the rest of the season.

What does aeration cost?
It's priced by the size of your lawn. Put your address into the estimate on this page and you'll see your exact number in minutes. Nobody has to come out and walk your yard first.
When's the best time to aerate up here?
Spring, once the ground has thawed and dried out, or late summer into early fall. Fall is our favourite — cool nights and less weed pressure mean new seed takes better.
Do I have to rake up the plugs?
No. Leave them where they land. They break down in about two weeks and feed the lawn as they go.
Will my lawn look torn up after?
For a few days it looks like a flock of geese walked through it. Then the plugs melt in and you can't tell we were there, except the grass gets thicker.
Should I overseed at the same time?
Yes. Seed has to touch soil to grow, and open holes are the best contact it will get all year. Add overseeding to your estimate and we put the seed down the same day we aerate.
